Welcome to Birchmere – a proper little campsite located in the Surrey countryside.
Established in the late ’70s by Woking District Scouts, Birchmere is ideal for all sizes of camps from small units hiking through to week-long group camps and is a perfect base for exploring the local area.
Birchmere offers groups the flexibility to plan an exciting programme that includes the traditional camping activities on site and the surrounding common and the exciting activities available in the local area.
We are open to Scouts, Guides, D of E expeditions and other bona fide youth groups.
Set in four square miles of woodland and heathland, Birchmere Campsite is the ideal setting for a traditional Scout and Guide camp.
The site has ample room for up to 100 campers with plenty of room left over for on-site activities. In addition there is a wooded area – Woolgers Wood – that is perfect for bivvy-style camping, string trails or nature walks for Beavers and younger Cubs.
Wisley Common provides ample scope for navigation exercises, wide games and spotting local flora and fauna. Adjoining Wisley Common are Silvermere and Ockham Commons with extensive wood and heathland extending your walks over longer distances without having to get back in the mini-bus.
